I will Continue to Improve Standard in Broadcasting Industry - Abiodun Salami, Celebrates Birthday

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, SAS Media Academy, Mr. Abiodun Salami has said that he would continue to improve the standard in the Broadcasting Industry.

He stated this while addressing staff of the Mesiogo online radio under the umbrella of Yellowmania Communications to mark his 2023 birthday ceremony.

Abiodun Salami is the son of the Group General Manager, Fresh Fm International, Alhaji Abolade Salami, Yellowmania also trained under his father's tutulage as a broadcaster.

"I started my career in the year 2007 with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, (FRCN) Ibadan before I left in 2009 to further my education, I was also in the system throughout my education period."

I anchored programmes on Radio Nigeria Ibadan, before I proceeded to king Fm, Pensioners fm, Lagelu fm, Fresh fm, Solutions fm, Some of the programmes are, Aiye Campus, Campus Life, Kata Kara, Buying and Selling, KOJU MARIBI,  NIFAAJI, 

LAGBO REGAL, GBE BODY E, among others.

He is currently a senior programme officer at  Prince Fm Ibadan Presenting a Political Programme every wednesday tittled OSELU GBODE and FAAJI UNLIMITED every Saturday night.

Hon Segelu congratulates Gbajabiamila, Senator Hadejia on appointments as CoS, DCoS

A former Personal Assistant (PA) to ex-Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Hon. Olayinka Segelu, has felicitated with House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Senator representing Jigawa North East Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia on their appointments as Chief of Staff (CoS) and Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) respectively.

Segelu, a Germany-based businessman who is the Chairman of YSEG Hotels and Suites, Ibadan, Oyo State, said Gbajamiamila and Hadejia are competent and capable to handle the positions offered them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted in a statement that the duo have gathered enough experience in their political careers that make them perfect fits for the job of CoS and DCoS to the President.

Hon Segelu, who was also an erstwhile Personal Assistant to former Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, said:  "I rejoice with House of Reps Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia on their well-deserved appointments as Chief of Staff (CoS) and Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

"It is indeed a well-thought-out appointment as the two astute and distinguished parliamentarians have what it takes to occupy the positions, considering their vast experience in leadership and governance. 

“Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the 9th Assembly, who is now appointed as the Chief of Staff to the President and his Deputy, the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff are great leaders I have known personally since 2003 when I served as Political Aide in the National Assembly from 2003-2015.'

He continued: "I have a good relationship with the Office of the outgoing Speaker since 2003 that he has been in the House of Reps till date. As minority and majority leader, he showed proactive leadership. His former SLA and now SA Admin Hon. Seun Odofin has been a good friend and brother. Senator Hadejia who I have had personal interaction with is one man I hold in high esteem. We must begin the process of healing PDP now, embrace unity - Makinde tells party stakeholders

 

Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, called on stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to put aside their differences and work towards the unity of the party. 

He made the appeal during the ongoing retreat organised by the party for elected officials in Bauchi, Bauchi State, saying that, going forward, the process of healing the party must begin immediately. 

The governor urged party members to put aside issues capable of causing division in the party as a result of the in-fightings that occurred during the general elections and embrace peace.

He said, "Well, I want to point out that we went through a gruelling election, and whether we want to admit or not, we have issues amongst ourselves during the elections. But, you know what, the healing process has to start and it must start now." 

Makinde, while saying that the party must be forward-looking, admonished the governors to stand strong and continue to play a stabilizing role in the affairs of the party. 

"We must focus on things that will unite us. We must, as a matter of urgency, be forward-looking. We have to tell ourselves the home-truth. One thing I can say is that, for the governors of the PDP, who are present here, I will say that the governors are willing, ready and able to play a stabilising role in this party. 

"Let me conclude by saying that government will come and go but our country will remain. And, as a responsible opposition party, we must, where it is required, do things in the interest of this country. This is because if there is no Nigeria, there is no us. 

"So, it is safer to offer a chance that offers itself and extemporize the procedure to fit it, rather than making plans, mature and waiting for an opportunity to use that plan," he stated.

Subsidy Removal: Create Palliative Measures For Nigerians Now, Professor Olagoke Tells Tinubu.

 

 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been advised to create some palliative measures to alleviate the sufferings of the masses as a result of the subsidy removal from petroleum while also urging him to embark on massive promotion and educating the masses  on  the future effects of the government's action.

 This was contained in the congratulatory message signed by the Founder, Spiritual Head and Grand Imam of the Shafaudeen in Islam Worldwide, Prof. Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP and made available to journalists in Ibadan.

Prof. Olagoke also urged  President Tinubu to take a bold step and publish the names of sector  beneficiaries of the removed subsidy as its positive effect for Nigerians to testify to the Federal Government's sincere approach to the subsidy removal.

Prof. Olagoke who is also the Mogaji of OgunElu, Aare Alasa Dynasty also congratulate the President for taking a bold step on the first day of his taking over the baton of leadership.   Prof. Olagoke hinted that though President Tinubu promised to remove the subsidy during the campaign and he still won the election. 

Prof. Olagoke while speaking about the most preferred palliative materials advised the president to make available busses and functional railway system to all the States of the Federation for people to go about their businesses with ease.

 "Now that the pump price of petrol has risen to ₦500.00, the negative effect of that will be hike in transport fares and many consumables will be expensive  but if the Federal Government can improve on our transportation system, the effect will not be too harsh on the people". 

The Arole OgunElu however called on Labour leaders to embrace dialogue with the Government instead of confrontation that may destabilise and truncate the economy.

 “Labour leaders should not engage in any form of confrontation and violence that can set the Nation on fire”.

Prof. Olagoke also urged President Tinubu to as a matter of urgency, work on a rapid transformation of our refineries within the first one year of his administration which according to him will later force the price of petrol to go down and make our money through the exportation of petrol instead of crude Oil.

The Shafaudeen boss however expressed his satisfaction that the president will put the round peg in the round hole in the selection of members of his cabinet.

“If President Tinubu can  remove subsidy, he would have delivered more incentives in reducing corruption than many last governments put together”

“The political will to see these through and the resilience and solidarity of Nigerians will be required because these will be a very difficult pills to swallow. Radical surgery and radiotherapy may bring cure, but they are not painless procedures" Olagoke added.

OYO ROLLER ATHLETES CLINCHES FIRST POSITION IN SOUTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIP

 

 

Oyo State Roller Sports team came first in the WOW Weekend Skating Championship in Ondo State on the 27th and 28th May, 2023.

    

At the championship competition, Oyo State team won a total number of 8 medals and secured the over all first position in the keenly contested championship which involved all south western states of Nigeria. The eight medals consist of 2 Gold, 3 Sliver and 3 Bronze .

    

Popoola Sadiq clinched 1 Gold medal during the speed slalom event while Oladele Morenikeji won 1 Gold Medal at the Endurance under 17 Race and Gideon Omotayo got 2 Sliver at the Endurance Race and Elimination Race respectively, while Habeeb Abdulazeez also clinched 1 Silver Medal.

    

Subsequently, the tiro of Abdulazeez Habeeb, Bakare Toheeb and Junaid Olaitan won 3 bronze medals respectively in the three events they participated.

    

The Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike who received the athletes on behalf of the Council formally presented the eight medals to the eight athletes for the outstanding and remarkable performances  of these prodigies at the South West Roller Sports Championship Competition.

    

While addressing the athletes, Mr Ajibike encourage them not to relent in their efforts to excel  in  subsequent national and international competitions  stressing that they need to utilize their potential to achieve greater heights.

NUJ, Oke-Ogun Commiserates With Family Over Peju Oyelakin's Demise

 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Oke-Ogun Federated Chapel has condoled with the family and expressed rude shock over untimely death that claimed life of Mrs Elizabeth Peju Oyelakin.

This was contained in a condolence statement issued by the Chairman of NUJ, Oke-Ogun Federated Chapel, Comrade Ismail Ogundeji, and the union's secretary, Comrade Khalid Imran.

According to the statement, "on behalf of NUJ, Oke-Ogun Federated Chapel, we commiserate with the family, friends, colleagues and co-staff of BCOS, Oke-Ogun FM, Alaga over the sudden death of our active member, Madam Peju Oyelakin.

" We were shocked, having learnt of death which claimed life of our sister, active member and professional colleague with no hint about any sickness of hers".

" This ugly development  came to us a rude shock, that we could not maintain balance nor concentration on the next lines of action".

While paying tribute,  NUJ, Oke-Ogun described late Madam Elizabeth Peju Oyelakin as a peacemaker, active member and progressively minded unionist who sacrificed a lot for the sustenance of the chapel".

The Chapel would forever miss the deceased who was until her death a staff of BCOS, Oke-Ogun FM, Alaga and Treasurer of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists(NAWOJ), Oyo State Council.

It however prayed God almighty to grant her eternal rest and also gives family, friends and colleagues the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

Transport union groups resolve to collaborate on PMS at Oyo town hall meeting

Different transport union groups that had been at loggerheads for years in Oyo State, on Thursday, resolved to collaborate to reposition the state’s Park Management System (PMS) for the purpose of ensuring peace and sustainable development in the state.

Oyo State government had convened the town hall meeting to find ways of improving the operation of PMS with the aim of tweaking it to serve the people better.

The meeting came following the dissolution of the Disciplinary Committee of the PMS headed by Mr Mukaila Lamidi.

The meeting which was held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan, had in attendance various stakeholders, including the factions of Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (Tokyo), Alhaji Abideen Ejiogbe, Olowo Geesi, Abass Amolese, Tirimisiyu Olowoposi and Alhaji Hamidu.

Associations represented at the event are, Heavy Duty Truck Owners and Drivers, Association of Commercial Motorcycle Riders of Nigeria (ACCOMMORAN) and Association of Tricycle Operators, among others.

In his welcome remark, Chairman of the occasion, Professor Duro Adeleke, urged the stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of the PMS.

He said, “We are here on account of the PMS in Oyo State. Your membership comprises various organisations. What we are advocating for is not to engage in violence. Try to ensure that you maintain the peace wherever you are operating. Don't disrupt the peace and harmony in Oyo State and leave a good example for others to follow."

The permanent secretaries from the Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Works and Transport and the Ministry of Local Government jointly charged the stakeholders to endeavour to speak in one voice, embrace the peace and work together to move the state forward.

They also emphasized the need to embrace dialogue whenever there is a misunderstanding among the stakeholders.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, who was represented by Mr Adejobi Akinade, stressed that the force would continue to do everything possible to ensure peace and security in the state.

"We have been employed to stabilise peace and order in the state and we will not allow any group or individual to cause chaos. Nobody is allowed to possess or go about with unauthorized weapons. Violence will not be tolerated. Nobody should order the killing of any other person.”

The leaders of the groups, who spoke in turns, appreciated the governor for creating such a platform to bring them together.

They hailed the governor for making such a harmonious move for the benefit of everyone involved in the system, vowing that after the constitution of a new system, they would work towards boosting the government's internally generated revenue (IGR).

All the warring factions in the transport union later agreed to sheathe their sword and work together to make the PMS better.

They also assured that peace would be sustained in the state in line with the sustainable development plan of Omituntun 2.0.

At the end of the meeting, a communiqué, which detailed all the agreements, was read by the Director, Public Works and Transport, Mr Olatunde Olasunkanmi.
