The Oyo State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to education reform and development through strategic policies and initiatives impacting both public and private schools across the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, made this known while welcoming students back for the third term resumption scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2026.
Hon. Olayiwola explaned that the new academic term is packed with key educational activities, including teaching, training, and promotional examinations such as SSCE and GCE.
He urged students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies, while also being law-abiding.
He emphasised that teachers must demonstrate professionalism by being punctual, adequately prepared, and consistent in delivering lessons.
He stressed the importance of proper lesson planning, timely attendance in classrooms, and leading by example in discipline.
The Commissioner also called on parents and guardians to take an active role in monitoring their children’s academic progress, instilling discipline, and working closely with teachers to ensure the all-round development of their wards.
Describing the third term as a crucial 14-week academic period, Hon. Olayiwola admonished all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards achieving academic excellence.
He further advised proprietors of private schools to strictly adhere to the academic calendar issued by the Ministry of Education.
