Former senator representing Osun West, Senator Adelere Oriolowo, has extended New Year greetings to Nigerians, praising their resilience and perseverance in the face of economic and social challenges.
In a statement issued to mark the New Year,
Oriolowo thanked Nigerians for remaining steadfast despite the insecurity, unemployment, economic hardship, and rising cost of living and transportation experienced in the outgoing year.
He said Nigerians were able to survive the difficult period due to their resilience, endurance, hope, and faith, which he described as enduring characteristics of the people in times of crisis. According to him, these qualities have consistently helped Nigerians navigate periods of turmoil and socio-economic pressure.
Oriolowo urged the Federal Government to urgently address the plight of citizens, noting that Nigerians have endured prolonged hardship over the years.
He said the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must begin to yield tangible benefits for ordinary Nigerians as the country moves into 2026.
He cautioned the government against taking Nigerians for granted because of their ability to endure hardship, stressing that citizens have no other country to call their own and deserve improved living conditions.
The former lawmaker also called on Nigerians to work together in unity to build a better country, emphasizing that peace, harmony, and collective effort are essential for national development.
Turning to Osun State politics, Oriolowo appealed to the people of the state to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the next governorship election, describing the party as the solution to the state’s challenges.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a prosperous New Year filled with peace, progress, and improved quality of life.
