The Management of the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, on 29th and 30th September, 2025 organised a two-day orientation programme for the newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The event was designed to introduce the students to College life, regulations, and their responsibilities.
The programme opened with a welcome address by Mrs Omolara Fatunmbi, who represented the Provost, Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo. She welcomed the new students and highlighted the importance of embracing College life and adhering to its guidelines.
She further advised the students to steer clear of conducts and relationships capable of destroying their lives and denting the image of the College.
Mrs Dupe Ayoola, the College Registrar, provided a brief overview of the College environment, giving students general information about the facilities and administrative structure of the College. She emphasised the need for the new students to always comport themselves in an orderly manner. She warned against cultism and other unlawful behaviours, noting that the Students' Disciplinary Committee is fully on ground to checkmate any form of unruly conduct.
Prof J.K. Ayantayo from the University of Ibadan delivered a lecture on the “Ethics of Lifestyle,” encouraging the students to maintain discipline, integrity, and balance in their personal and academic lives.
Safety on campus was addressed by Engr. A. B. Olatunbosun, Director of Training, Planning, and Research at the Oyo State Fire Service Agency. He educated the students on fire safety, precautionary measures, and emergency procedures.
Other lectures were delivered by Dr Ikeoluwapo Moody, who spoke on the responsibilities of students, Mrs Lucy Eniola who spoke on sexuality education.
Lectures were also delivered by representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Red Cross Society, and other invited organisations.
Present at the programme were the Principal Officers of the College, Heads of Departments, and members of staff.
Some of the fresh students, in an interview, commended the Management of the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan, for organising the Orientation Programme, which they described as impactful and enlightening. They expressed their readiness to abide by the rules and regulations of the College while upholding the principles of simplicity, discipline, and decorum.
The SUG President, Mr Wisdom Babalola spoke to the students about their responsibilities and limitations, reminding them to actively participate in College life while following rules and respecting regulations.
Mr Emmanuel Akinsoji, the College Librarian, guided the students through library registration and the rules and regulations governing its use. Students were also introduced to available resources to support their studies.
Financial matters were covered by Mrs Adeola Olanase, the College Bursar, who explained the process of fee payment, while Mr. Gbenga Makinde, the Admissions Officer, addressed admission matters and registration for courses.
The orientation programme successfully provided the fresh students with essential information on College life, safety, academic resources, and responsibilities, helping them settle into their new environment.
