The Chairman Oyo State advisor Council Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, OFR has commiserated with the families of victims and the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over the recent Ibadan Stampede that claims lives.
In a statement issued and signed in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, the Council wished some of the victims currently hospitalized a quick recovery to those who sustained injuries in the incident.
The statement said, "we are deeply saddened to hear that many precious lives were lost in the stampede during a children's carnival at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024“.
"On behalf of the State Advisory Council, I convey my heartfelt condolences to His Excellency and through His Excellency to the bereaved families, relatives and friends of those who perished in the incident; the Government, and the people of Oyo State.."
The statement added further that, "the Council appreciates the Oyo State Government's proactive action under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde for taking immediate action to prevent further loss of lives, deploying security agents to restore order at the venue, and providing medical and ambulance services to attend to the injured.
Chief Bolaji Ayorinde prayed to the Almighty God to rest the souls of the Departed in eternal peace.
