Shafaudeen Boss, CRCT proffers Solution To Social Media Misuse




Worried by the negative use of the social media and it's negative effects on the masses, the founder and spiritual head of the Shafaudeen in Islam worldwide, Prof Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP has called on parents to monitor their children properly before been influenced by friends negatively. 


Olagoke who is the president and initiator of the Centre for Religious Cooperation And Tolerance (CRCT) disclosed this during the annual symposium of the centre tittled "Protect The Youths From Social Media Abuse" held recently at the CRCT hall Wakajaye Ibadan. 


While enumerating some of the dangers of which ranges from hacking, security issues, cyber bullying and time wastage also identify addiction, health issues, depression and loneliness, distraction and untimely death. 


" Social media also aid crime and fraud and fake news is also spend fast by the social media "


Prof. Olagoke who is also the Mogaji Ogun -Elu, Aare Alasa dynasty also however stated that social media have negative impact on children through sites that can pollute them morally, spiritually and intellectually. 


The cleric however called on parents to ensure they process their children from home and train them in the way of God before they are carried away with the negative  effects of the social media .


While speaking on how the manage could be curbed Prof. Olagoke disclosed that most of the in their adolescent stage are gullible most especially those with poor parental background and that it is worst for them in an era of collapse system of the agents of socialisation. 


" It is pertinent that we re-brand Nigeria with due crecognition for those important institutions and the agents of socialisation responsibilities. Once the environment is sanitised into a disciplined and corruption free environment .Collaboration of all agents of socialisation will help to revitalise and reentrebch a durable socialisation process to a working tool status". 


During the symposium, Alhaji Abdul -Rauf Kamardeen who spoke on the paper presented by Prof. Olagoke from legal angle called in the government to put in place a law that will prevent people from using the social media to commit crime with a stringent penalty for whoever is guilty using the social media for evils. 


Mr. John Teidi a journalist who spoke from the media angle advised the youths to speak up especially the girl child if anyone is using the social media .


A social commentator and activist comrade Awa Bamiji called on  the government to create a  agencies to institutionalise social media so as to curb the menace of social media abuse. 


Dr. Ibraheem Adediran in his words called for the evaluation and research to be able to use social media effectively for the benefit of the society. 


At the end of the event prizes was awarded to the winners of the Olagoke Education Legacy O-Leg and in the primary school category 

Akinrinola Toluwanimi of Faith International School Oyo came first with 65 percent  while Akorede Azeenat from Muslim Model College, NTC, Ibadan became second with 63 points,  Adenuga Shamsudeen of Shafaudeen Comprehensive School and Oparinde Mofidat became third and fourth  with 62 and 61 points respectively. 


In the secondary school category Olurode Abdul-Razak of the Wings College, Iwo, Osun State  came first with 77percent while Adebayo Ridwan of Isale Oyo Community grammar school and Adeoti Judah of Baptist Medical secondary Centre  came second with 76points and Adeleye Aliyu Akinkunmi of Yejide School  came third with 73points and Adedoyin Samuel of Community grammar school Lalupon took the fourth position with 72 points.
