The Chairman, Technical Committee on Boundary Dispute Resolution, the Surveyor General of Oyo State, Surveyor, Alaba Abiodun has charged people of Surulere Local Government area in Oyo State and Egbedore Local Government areas in Osun State to maintain peace over boundary disputes.
He stated this during a fact finding visit to "Mongele Community" in Surulere Local Government over boundary dispute between Oyo and Osun State.
He said the fact - finding mission to the affected communities was successful, hinting that, the Surveyor General of the two States will work very fast about the report and resolve the boundary matters amicably.
He said. "We will meet with our Osun State counterpart, the Surveyor General of Osun State, we will compare notes and bring out a joint report that would be submitted to the State Government and the National Boundary Commission NBC".
The Surveyor General enjoined the communities in Surulere and Egbedore Local Government area in Osun State to maintain Status- Quo -Ante and also allow peace to rain in their domain pending the outcome of the report, which according to him will come out before the end of the year 2023.
Also Speaking, the Osun State Surveyor General, Surveyor Ayodele Abioye admonished the community leaders to inform their youths to maintain peace pending the outcome of the exercise.
"The stakeholders from the two Local Governments should allow peace to reign, at the end of the exercise, something good will come out that will please the two Local Government areas."
In their separate remarks, the Onimongele of Mongele, Oba Kazeem Inaolaji Olapade and Alawe of Ilawe, Oba Abdul Kareem Alao Olatunde Osunbunmi 11, commended the government of Oyo and Osun State for their proactive steps to boundary matters in their States.
