Oyo Govt, will continue to Priroitize Workers Welfare, Provide Palliatives

 




The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni, has said that the present administration in the State would continue to Prirotize workers welfare to cushion the effect of the Fuel Subsidy removal.


She stated this while receiving leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Ibadan.


She said the State Government has started deploying more buses through the Pace Setter Transport system to take people from one place to another with 50 percentage reduction as part of the efforts to cushion the effect of the fuel Subsidy removal for the general public.


She added that within the limited resources, the State Government would ensure all workers are happy.


The Head of Service reiterated further that the committee set up by Engineer, Seyi Makinde had started working on the new minimum wage for all workers in the State, saying  that, the State Government is looking at all possible way to reduce the surfering of the masses.


She said "we are lucky in Oyo State that we have a listening Governor, we have a governor that see Civil Service as his constituency, with this, Oyo State will be far better than any other State in Nigeria on minimum wage".


She then urged  labour union in the State to always jaw-jaw instead of war-war, saying that, the Head of Service office will co-opt other unions that is necessary into the Civil/Public Service minimum wage negotiation.


In his remarks, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Kayode Martins said for the first time, the Government is calling the labour union to review the salary upward.


He appreciated the present administration for prioritizing workers welfare, hinting that, the labour union will not relent to ensure that the minimum wage is done on time as well as palliative measures for all workers in the State.
