Block All Avenue of illicit Drugs, Oyo Govt, Charges NDLEA


The Oyo State Government, through the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun has charged National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to block all avenue of sales and marketing of Illicit drugs in the State.

She stated this during the Public Burning of Illicit Drug Exhibit in Ibadan, tagged "War Against Drug Abuse (WADA)". 

The Secretary to the State Government who represented the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer. Seyi Makinde said if there is no market for drugs it will not be popular in the society.

She opined that drugs is a drain on people especially youth, it affect  them Medically,  Financially, Psychologically, Economically in which many cases actually leads to untimely death.

The Secretary to the State Government said all hands must be on deck to ensure that (NDLEA) continually block all avenue of sales and marketing illicit drugs.

She said "for the past four years, we have not had public burning of illicit  drugs in Oyo State, drug is a menace in our society, if there is no market for it, it will not be popular".

She said the present administration in the State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde would continue to support the (NDLEA) in order to reduce the menace of drug abuse in the society and the State at large.

She then charged the Agency to be aggressive in identifying stores or places where illicit drug are kept and also educate their officers to be ahead of the game.

In his remark, the National Secretary (NDLEA),  Mr. Shadrach Haruna commended the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for supporting the Oyo State Command of the Agency in carrying out their duties in the State without any form of intimidation.
