OYSCOHEST MANAGEMENT CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR MAKINDE ON LEADERSHIP AWARD, COMMENDS HIM OVER S.U.G. BUS DONATION.



The Management of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, Ibadan has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State,  Engineer Seyi Makinde on the LEADERSHIP Newspaper’s Governor of The Year 2023 award.

 


The OYSCOHEST boss described the Award as well deserved and an affirmation of his achievements across various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment,  pointing out that the College of Health Science and Technology has made tremendous progress with the support of his Government. 

 


 The OYSCOHEST boss also  commended His Excellency  for the donation of a brand new 18 Seater bus to the Students' Union  Government of the College, stating that this is the first time any government would extend such a kind gesture to the Students' Union Government of the College. 


It will be recalled that Engr. Seyi Makinde yesterday donated twenty eight 18 Seater buses to Students' Union Governments of Federal and State Tertiary Institutions in the state.

Oyo HOS Applauds Makinde For Approving payment of 100% Gratuity For Retired HLA’s

 



The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving payment of 100 Percent Gratuity to all retired Heads of Local Government Administration in the State.


She stated this during the celebration  programme in honour of  the retired Heads of Local Government Administration held  at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.


HOS  charged Civil Servants across the State to imbibe the culture of excellence, integrity, and accountability in the discharge of their duties.


The Head of Service, admonished Civil Servants to draw inspiration from the exemplary leadership demonstrated by the retirees and strive to emulate their dedication and passion for service.


Oni further appreciated  Governor Makinde for approving upward review of salary of the serving heads of the local government administration in all the Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas.


She explained that the commitment and dogged determination of the present administration to the security of life and property through prompt release of security funds to the Local Government Councils and provision of security vehicles for the security agencies in the State.


She said: “Let us reaffirm the need for a commitment to upholding the values of transparency, accountability and good governance, where we will all work towards building a future in which every citizen of Oyo State can thrive and prosper”.


“I will like to appreciate the unparalleled gesture of Governor Seyi Makinde in approving payment of 100 percent gratuity to retired Heads of Local Government Administration in the State".


Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Deacon Taiwo Adewale commended the State Government for prioritizing the Local Government Staff welfare in the State.

Oyo Assembly makes move on implementation of online studies across the State tertiary institutions




The Oyo State House of Assembly has directed its Standing Committee on Tertiary Institutions to liase




with the Management of Higher Schools across the State and deliberate on the measures to engage in adopting  online studies in the Institutions.

The  directive was issued following a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Oyo East and West State Constituency in the State Assembly,  Hon. Olorunpoto Rahman, during Thursday plenary.

Presenting the motion,  titled " Need for more intensified efforts to Institutionalized Education Technology or Online Education system by the Management of all State owned Tertiary institutions in the State to Expand access to Education and Increase Internally Generated Revenue , Hon. Olorunpoto noted that this new era of digital transformation calls for Technological based educational system inorder to enhance effective and dynamic learning environment that prepare students for success in  the twenty - first Century.


"The Online learning platform and virtual classroom empower learners for the future and provides personalised experience that cater for individual needs and learning styles. It has become pronounced in the modern world,  especially in educational institutions due to rising needs and emergence of some health challenges experience in the recent past" the lawmaker added.



Hon. Olorunpoto stressed that the introduction of online courses or programmes by some institutions in Nigeria has helped to increase their Students ' database and create more access to Education degrees, masters and doctorate programmes especially for working adults. 



He stressed further that the adoption of Online Educational system by the State owned Tertiary Institutions can also pave  the way for increment in Internally Generated Revenue  and bring rapid developments to the State.


The House has however urged the Executive Arm of Government to implore the Heads and Management of all State owned Tertiary Institutions in Oyo State to create enabling environment and capacity building on technology driven for their workforce in order to bridge the personnel gaps in technology Education system initiatives.


Meanwhile,  the bills seeking for the establishment of Tertiary Education Commission, and Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan passed through the first reading stage at Thursday plenary,  presided over by the Speaker,  Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

PHARMACY COUNCIL INDUCTS NEWLY QUALIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIANS AT OYSCOHEST




The newly inducted Pharmacy Technician Graduates of Oyo State College of Health and Technology Eleyele Ibadan (OYSCOHEST) and three other Colleges of Health Technology have been called  upon to uphold the ethics of their profession. 


This call was made by the South West Zonal Director of Pharmacy Council of Nigeria,  Pharmacist  Nike Ogunlola at the induction ceremony of newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians of four Colleges of Health Technology namely College of Health Science and Technology,  Ijero- Ekiti, Ekiti State, Seventh Day College of Health Technology,  Igbope, Oyo State, Osun State College of Health Technology,  Ilesa and the host College of Health Science and Technology,  Eleyele, Ibadan, held in the OYSCOHEST College auditorium. 



She implored them to proceed further in their academic pursuits.


Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman and  Special Guest of Honour,  the Oyo State Commissioner for Health,  Dr Oluwaserimi  Ajetunmobi   congratulated the inductees, also urging them  to go for further studies in the University. The Commissioner said Oyo State Government will continue to give necessary financial and logistic support to the College for its development. She commended the College Management for ensuring a conducive learning environment.


The Provost of the College,  Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo,  in her welcome address congratulated the inductees and their parents/ guardians and charged the newly inducted Pharmacy Technicians to eschew unethical practices and be good ambassadors of the College wherever they find themselves. 



Some of the inductees expressed their delight over their academic attainment thanking the College and the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria for  their support in the realisation of their dream.



They also promised to always uphold professional ethics at all times.

 Pharmacy Technicians programme is one of the nineteen courses currently being run by Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology. 


Also speaking , the Head of Department, Pharmacy Technicians Training , Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Eleyele Ibadan  Pharmacist Olanike Abimbola  commended the Management of the College for standing by the department and for creating conducive environment for learning charging the inductees to be good ambassadors of the College


The College, established in 1933 has the mandate to train middle level health care providers.

Makinde Award As Best Governor of Year 2023 Make Us Proud - Oyo HOS

 




The Forum of Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries, and other heads of MDAs on Tuesday congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State. Engr, Seyi Makinde, on his Award of Excellence as the best governor of the year 2023 from one of the leading newspapers in Nigeria.


In a statement issued and signed by the Chairman of the forum, the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni mni said Governor Seyi Makinde had performed creditable well in the last four and half years of his administration. 



The statement said Governor Makinde is running a people centric government, a government that benefits all and sundry in the state irrespective of the political affiliations.


The Accounting Officers of the Ministries Departments and Agencies unanimously stated that in this troubled time Governor Makinde slashed the price of the public transportation by 50 percent which made the movement of the people from one place to another easy for the people of the State. 


The forum rose from their meeting at the House of Chiefs Secretariat, Ibadan, where they aligned themselves with the position of the Leadership Newspaper that Governor Makinde is the Governor of the year 2023 without fear or favor.


"Regular payment of salaries and allowances of the civil servants, payment of pensions and gratuity, ditto leave bonus and increment of car and housing loan  for Civil/Public Servants, his security architecture, fund management  and above all the infrastructural projects across the State is commendable".


The forum in their statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital maintained further that security architecture of the State across the Seven Geo-Political Zones of the State is worthy of emulation, hinting that, there was peace and tranquility in the pacesetter State since assumption of office  Engr Seyi Makinde led administration in Oyo State. 


"We are all living witnesses, Governor Makinde has been able to connect all the zones in the state with good road networks. Through the Moniya-Iseyin road, Ibadan zone has been connected to the Oke-Ogun zone; through the Oyo-Iseyin road, Oyo zone has been linked to Oke-Ogun zone; through the ongoing Ogbomoso-Fapote-Iseyin road, Ogbomoso zone is being linked to Oke-Ogun zone; and through the Ido-Eruwa road, Ibadan zone is linked to Ibarapa zone".

Oyo HOS Urges Civil Servants to be Dedicated to Duty




The State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni has charged Civil Servants across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to be Dedicated to their duty.


She stated this during an interactive meeting with the Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments and Agencies held at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.



She charged the Permanent Secretaries across the (MDAs) to come up with a proposal that would improve the Internal Generated Revenue of the State Government for accelerated development. 


The Head of Service admonished the Permanent Secretaries to  encourage their subordinates to do their work diligently and monitor them to stay in their duty post.


She urged Civil/Public Servants across the (MDA's) to make use of the facilities inside the office of the Head of Service library, saying that, learning is a continuous process.


She said "always work on your subordinates to be more proactive in discharging their duties and stay on their duty post, the purpose of dedication to duty is service delivery".


Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Joel Ajagbe said Oyo State Civil Servants are one of the best in Nigeria, hinting that, despite the dwindling ecomimy, Civil Servants are still loyal to the State Government.
