Olubadan @ 90: Senator Yunus Akintunde Felicitates with the Olubadan

 

The Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South West Development Commission, Dr. Yunus Akintunde, has extended heartfelt felicitations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, on the joyous occasion of his 90th birthday.

In a statement released to the media by Kunle Olatunji, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Akintunde, the lawmaker expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for preserving the life of the revered monarch and for granting him the grace to witness such a remarkable milestone.

> "I rejoice with the royal family, the good people of Ibadanland, and all well-wishers on this momentous celebration of the 90th birthday of Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland. This is indeed a unique and historic moment worthy of celebration," Senator Akintunde stated.

He described Kabiyesi’s life as a testament to divine grace, marked by resilience, wisdom, and a legacy of service to his people.

> "Kabiyesi’s journey to the throne reflects not only God’s immense benevolence but also his dedication, patience, and unwavering commitment to the progress of Ibadanland. His reign has further consolidated the synergy between the people, the government, and traditional institutions—fostering remarkable development and infrastructural growth across the city."

Senator Akintunde also commended the Olubadan for redefining the role of traditional leadership in modern governance, emphasizing the monarch’s contributions to peace, unity, and sustainable development in Ibadanland.

OLUBADAN CELEBRATES HIS 90TH BIRTHDAY

His Imperial Majesty Dr Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin Ige  Olakulehin 1 celebrates 90th birthday today Saturday 5th July, 2025 at his palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

As part of activities marking his birthday the paramount ruler of Ibadanland visited Adeoyo General Hospital,Yemetu, Ibadan where he was received by the management of the hospital led by the Chief  Medical Director,Dr Adeniyi  Olanrewaju where he disclosed that 13  children were born today,he later visited Oluyole Cheshire Home where 41 called residents were registered 

In all the places visited the paramount ruler represented by prince Sunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin said he visited the palaces earlier mentioned to rejoice with the children and less privileged for them to share in the joy of his birthday 

In his words, I love children and the less privileged, consequently, I decided to share my joy of celebrating my 90th birthday with them, he further disclosed 

In all places visited, Oba Olakulehin presented them with food items and cash 

Accompanying the monarch were traditional rulers within and outside Ibadan land, religious leaders and other well wishers among others 

The celebration that started with the installation of honorary Chiefs yesterday Friday 4th July,2025 will be clamised with Church  thanksgiving service at St David's Cathedral Church, Kudeti, Ibadan tomorrow Sunday 6th July, 2025.

NUJ celebrates Olubadan at 90, congratulates him on first coronation anniversary

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has felicitated the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), on his 90th birthday, and the first anniversary of his ascension to the throne.

The Chairman of NUJ in the state, Comrade Ademola Babalola, and Secretary, Sola Oladapo in a statement issued on Saturday,  on behalf of all journalists in the pacesetter state, described the Olubadan as a paragon of traditional leadership.

Oba Olakulehin celebrates his birthday every 5th of July, which makes him to join the league of nonagenarians today,Saturday, and also his first coronation anniversary will hold next week Saturday, July 12th.

The NUJ notes that the Olubadan is not just a custodian of culture and tradition,  but also a revered elder statesman, whose life is an evidence of service, wisdom, as well as commitment to national unity and communal progress. 

According to the statement, "The 90 years of Oba Olakulehin on earth and one year on the throne as the paramount ruler of Ibadan are milestones that warrant celebration, not just by the people of Ibadanland, but by the entire nation and the world."

The NUJ commended Oba Olakulehin for his enduring leadership, marked by selfless dedication to nation-building and community development. 

"His reign has been characterised by peace and a steadfast commitment to the prosperity of his people. This has underscored his importance as a symbol of cultural continuity and unity.

"We join the people of Ibadanland, the wider Yoruba traditional institution, and admirers across the nation and beyond in celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of the 43rd Olubadan. 

"May His Imperial Majesty continue to enjoy good health, peace, and fulfillment as he marks these significant milestones," the statement said.

Oyo Govt. Inaugurates 2025 Public Service Week and Productivity Merit Award Committee

 

The Oyo State Head of Service Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni on Friday, inaugurated 2025 Public Service Week committee in line with the 1999 Tangier declaration by the African Ministers for Public Service.

The Inauguration ceremony was held at the Head of Service conference room, Secretariat, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital. 

The Head of Service said the 2025 Public Service Week is aimed at recognising and celebrating the values and virtues of service to the communities and the entire state.

She said the committee is expected to plan a robust year 2025 Public Service Week and Merit Award ceremony to recognise innovation, creativity, as well as dedication of workers to duty.

She pointed out that the 2025 Public Service Week would involve lecture and symposium in tandem with the national theme of the Public Service Week, including sporting activities both indoor and outdoor within the Civil/Public Service

The members of the committee were selected across the various sectors of the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Sunday Ojelabi commended the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for inspiring the commitment of the state workforce through the Public Service Week and Productivity Merit Award programme.

Dr. Ojelabi also commended the State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni for bringing together experts from the public and private sectors as well as the academia to plan and  organise 2025 Public Service Week for the State.

He said "Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni is a public servant with untiring commitment and loyalty, she has a profound track record of value, sound work ethics and character which is such an inspiration, her commitment to her career path is unmistakable and reflects in the different significant roles she has played  in Oyo State".

LASG Deepens Strategic Partnerships to Accelerate SDGs Implementation

— Stakeholders Pledge Support at High-Level Breakfast Meeting

In a renewed drive to fast-track inclusive and sustainable development, the Lagos State Government has deepened its commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by convening a high-level Breakfast Meeting aimed at fostering strategic partnerships.

The event, themed “Accelerating SDGs Through Strategic Partnerships,” was held at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, and organized by the Office of Sustainable Development Goals. It drew participation from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including diplomats, development partners, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, and senior government officials.

Delivering the keynote address, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat—represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule—underscored the centrality of partnerships in achieving the SDGs. He noted that the state had strategically aligned its THEMES+ Agenda with the SDGs, prioritizing social inclusion, gender equality, youth empowerment, and sustainable infrastructure.

“Lagos is building a resilient and sustainable city where no one is left behind,” the Deputy Governor stated. “Our THEMES+ Agenda integrates key SDG pillars—education, the green economy, digital innovation, and transportation—to deliver long-lasting impact.”

He highlighted notable milestones, including the completion of the Blue Line Rail project, progress on the Red Line, and technology-driven reforms in education. He also stressed the need for a collective approach, describing the SDGs as a shared responsibility beyond government mandates.

“We must foster synergy among academia, civil society, the private sector, and international development agencies. It is time to mobilize blended financing, leverage innovation, and empower grassroots change-makers to turn bold ideas into scalable impact,” he added.

Also addressing the gathering, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, commended Lagos State’s efforts in mainstreaming the SDGs into its policies and institutional frameworks. She acknowledged Nigeria’s national progress in poverty reduction, education, and gender equality but noted that global disruptions—such as the COVID-19 pandemic, insurgency, and geopolitical conflicts—had slowed overall progress.

“These challenges have stretched resources and disrupted vital systems. Without intensified collaboration and investment, achieving the SDGs by 2030 will remain elusive,” she cautioned.

Orelope-Adefulire announced that Nigeria would present its third Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the United Nations in New York this July—an exercise that reflects the country’s commitment to localized, data-driven solutions.

“Lagos has become a model for subnational implementation of the SDGs,” she said. “Its use of data, innovation, and inclusive partnerships offers a clear benchmark for impact at scale.”

In her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, described the meeting as a vital platform for dialogue, collaboration, and co-creation.

“We have moved beyond conversation into co-creation—developing programs that are changing lives across Lagos,” she said. “Our office remains committed to being a convener, connector, and catalyst for sustainable development.”

She emphasized the importance of shared responsibility, adaptive planning, and systems thinking in scaling development interventions across sectors.

“Lagos offers a unique opportunity to align global ambitions with local realities. With intentionality and collective resolve, we must translate our commitments into real impact—through improved healthcare access, inclusive education, job creation, climate resilience, and gender equity,” she added.

A key highlight of the meeting was the collective pledge made by stakeholders to support Lagos State’s drive toward accelerating the implementation of the SDGs.

Present at the event were members of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Director-Generals and General Managers of MDAs, Consular Generals, development partners, representatives from the private sector, academia, and philanthropic organizations.

The gathering marked another bold step in Lagos State’s effort to institutionalize sustainable governance and build inclusive partnerships for lasting development.

General Abacha wanted to hand Nigeria over to a safe and trusted hand - Satguru Maharaj Ji

Founder Of One Love Family and the Living Perfect Master, Satguru Maharaj Ji in this interview, spoke about his relationship and encounter with former military president of Nigeria, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, Late General Sani Abacha, Abel Ubeku, Ernest Shonekan among many salient issues. Excerpts:

Can we go back to the Abel Ubeku angle? What was the plan? It really sounds strange that Abel Ubeku was to be made interim President of Nigeria. 

What is strange about it? If you can recall, there was a clamour for the entry of fresh persons into the political high-echelon of Nigeria. Nigerians wanted a non-politician to preside over the country after IBB's exit. They were of the opinion that Nigerian politicians are poor managers. 

They wanted someone who has successfully managed competitive institutions. I bought the idea and opted for Abel Ubeku after I equipped him with Divine Knowledge.

What happened next? 

What happened next? Abel Ubeku embraced the idea but after his British friends played on his intelligence and ego, he backed out of the offer. 

What does Maharaj Ji actually mean by saying that Abel Ubeku's British friends played on his intelligence? 

You see, while black man is busy stuffing his pockets with money and consuming anything, everything produced outside Africa, Europeans are continuously consolidating or reinforcing their racist, anti-Africa games. Abel Ubeku was an Oxford University graduate. You know, a typical African who graduates from a top or from an Ivy League University in the Western world gets ego-swollen. He feels big, very special and on top of the world (laughs). So, basically, Abel Ubeku traveled to London and while there, he told some of his fellow Oxford graduates of his decision to step in as Nigeria's Interim President. The clever British guys, knowing what was coming for Nigeria based on Maharaj Ji's backing of Ubeku, convinced Abel Ubeku into believing it was an abomination for an Oxford graduate to be involved in a military government. Ubeku fell to their psychological game and returned to Nigeria to tell Maharaj Ji he was no longer interested.

Really? 

Ah! My friend, I am telling you the plain, undiluted truth. The IBB guys on their part were also shopping for a non-politician. They settled for Ernest Shonekan. If Abel Ubeku had not backed down, IBB and his goons would not have been able to plant Shonekan in Abuja as Interim President of Nigeria. With Maharaj Ji backing Ubeku? Their Shonekan idea wouldn't have sailed through. Their Shonekan option would have failed.

So, Shonekan not having Maharaj Ji's backing made it possible for General Abacha to topple Shonekan. Right? 

My friend, do you think IBB and his gang would have allowed Ernest Shonekan to get close to Maharaj Ji? Those guys? I told you earlier about a standard diabolical practice of Northern political elites. IBB felt comfortable having Shonekan as Interim President. He had a plan. Abacha was not naive as to the said diabolical practice of the North's political class. Shonekan diligently served British commercial interest in Nigeria like Ubeku did. However, Ubeku was equipped with Divine Knowledge by Maharaj Ji, Shonekan wasn't. So, Shonekan was spiritually vulnerable. That Abacha successfully ejected Shonekan from power is consistent with the fact that Shonekan was highly vulnerable to the feudal North's political diabolism.

(laughs) So, if Abel Ubeku had been Interim President, General Sanni Abacha would not have been able to seize power from him. Is that what Maharaj Ji is saying? 

Darkness cannot quit Light! Anybody who is in Light and is subjugated by darkness has himself to blame, not the Light, I am saying that he or she who is in Light can be compromised by darkness only if he or she allows it. Divine Knowledge has three basic and very powerful practical constituents. If you adhere to them as taught or as instructed by Maharaj Ji, nobody can mess you up! Who is that person?!

Did Abacha become friend to Maharaj Ji after he seized power from Shonekan? 

No. Abacha had been relating with Maharaj Ji long before that.

Will it then be correct to say that Abacha's closeness to Maharaj Ji made it possible for him to become Head of State? 

Interesting. You see, My service to humanity is divine and, I must add, selfless. This person talking to you was chosen and literally subdued to embody The Supreme Source, The Supreme Spirit of Life known as Maharaj Ji in Sanskrit Language — the first and the most powerful language spoken by man. So, Maharaj Ji is like the non-subjective, non-judgmental and emotionless Sun that shines on all — the good, the bad, the ugly. When you visit Maharaj Ji, you cannot leave the same way you came. Some level of empowerment happens but not comparable to what one gets when equipped with Divine Knowledge. So, yes, Maharaj Ji's grace rubbed-off on Abacha and he chose to use it to evict IBB's implant (laughs).

So, what actually happens when Maharaj Ji's equips someone with Divine Knowledge?

Ah! Maharaj Ji literally fills you up with Maharaj Ji. The Light of all possibilities vibrating in the person sitting before you at His highest creative frequency is basically transferred into you. It is fully supplied to your soul and deeply etched in it, making you something beyond human and beyond military! I am talking about receiving Divine Knowledge from Satguru Maharaj Ji, not from any of the Eastern and Western hemispheric sources bearing all manner of names from Maharashi to Maharishi to Maharaja.

What's the difference? 

There is a very big difference between a manual transmission car of limited functional-range and an automatic transmission automobile of unlimited operational capacity. Do you get it?

I think I do. I will get back to that later.

Okay. 

After General Abacha toppled Ernest Shonekan, did he maintain relations with Maharaj Ji?

Yes, he did. Abacha had high regard for Maharaj Ji. It so happened that he was confronted by adverse forces from multiple fronts. And as someone who was not equipped with Divine Knowledge, he was overwhelmed. 

Abacha overwhelmed?

Yes, he was. General Abacha was overwhelmed. It was common knowledge that he had a failing health. He was sick. There were the international forces of sabotage and attrition; the so-called pro-democracy activists being funded by Western governments through serpentine proxies; ambitious and disgruntled military gangs and several others. Abacha had a lot on him.

So, why was he clinging on to power? Why was he killing people who criticized or challenged his grip on power?

Abacha actually wanted to retire from the office of Head of State. He wanted to and he meant it. We had repeated interactions on the question of relinquishing power. General Abacha wanted to hand Nigeria over to a safe and trusted hand. He didn't want Nigeria handed over to rascals, to corrupt politicians and their likes.

Is Maharaj Ji talking about the same Abacha who ordered the murder of Kudirat Abiola and the one who kept Chief MKO Abiola in detention for reasons bordering on his desire to secure his grip on power? Is Maharaj Ji referring to another Abacha?

(laughs) If I ask you who killed 'kpekelemess' — Chief Adelabu, you most likely will go on a long tale and end-up either not knowing who did or mentioning the wrong name. You see, there are tons of things that happen in the corridors of power that; with due respect, ordinary citizens don't know about. The press, most often than not, tells the masses what they — the journalists, think is the truth or what they have been paid, cajoled or threatened to narrate. There are many big games played up there o! If you know the real deal about the killings that happened in the Abacha years, you certainly will not tie all of them to Abacha. I am not saying Abacha was innocent or a saint though? For example, there was a period in this country when Maharaj Ji was announced to the world as a murderer, a cannibal, a blood-sucker and a hypnotizer. At least, you have been here several times and you have not been eaten. Lies! Lies! Lies! Everywhere lies!

Sola Abegunde’s demonic obsession with Gov Makinde

During the coronation of Oba Adebayo Adegbola as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa at the Eruwa Township Stadium last Saturday, the Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, did something all great leaders and statesmen do: he apologized for a shortcoming. Instead of papering over the cracks, Governor,  Makinde apologised to the  people of Eruwa and Ibarapaland over the delay being experienced in the completion of a 48-kilometre Eleyele-Eruwa road awarded months ago. He then gave a completion timeline of 11 months. And the people roared in applause, knowing that their governor is a man of integrity. As the governor said on the occasion: “One good thing about this administration is that our project can be delayed, but definitely not abandoned. This administration has completed all the projects that the past governments abandoned.”

Predictably, though, this beautiful moment gave a notorious blackmailer, Sola Abegunde, yet another opportunity to mount his high horse of arrogance and Makinde bashing. In a piece—actually a pile of garbage--titled “So, Governor Makinde could be ashamed of his failures?”, he poured endless invectives on the Oyo State governor, calling him every negative name under the sun. He accused the governor of enthroning “Samuel Adebayo Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwa in disregard of the judgments of the Oyo State High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme court of Nigeria,” then launched into his usual tirade on Makinde’s performance. 

He said he had “warned the Governor that his coming to Eruwa would be tamtam to a celebration of shamelessness but he ignored my warning.” Let us ignore “tamtam to a celebration of shamelessness” for now, because good grammar isn’t Abegunde’s forte.

First off, just how is it a failure on the part of Governor Makinde to tender an apology where one was evidently due? Does that act of courage and forthrightness make him less of a governor? Was he supposed to have threatened the people he apparently holds in high esteem instead of apologizing to them? Some people write before they think. And then, what was that nonsense about Makinde overruling the Supreme Court? Oba Adegbola, one of the candidates from the Olurin Ruling Family of Akalako Ruling House following the commencement of another selection process by the state government in 2024, was unanimously selected by the kingmakers among 18 candidates and appointed the new Eleruwa of Eruwa by the Oyo State Government on March 16, 2025. 

The background: the apex court had unseated him after 21 years on the throne, ordering a new process that would see the Olaribikusi ruling family producing another Eleruwa. The Oyo State Government complied with the judgment and asked the family to provide a candidate, but the family sadly failed to do so even after the expiration of the timeline provided by law. The kingmakers then asked the next ruling house to produce a candidate, and it did. 

They then unanimously endorsed that candidate, namely Adegbola, to which Governor Makinde consented, as provided by law. It was a simple case of a ruling house sleeping on its rights, the way the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State waived its rights by failing to challenge a suit filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) over the state’s LG elections for two years, thus leading to the sack of APC chairmen and councilors by the Court of Appeal. But 

Abegunde could not help feeding his readers with the trademark half-truths and barefaced lies. Does he expect Eruwa to be permanently detained by the indecision of a ruling house, without leadership and without direction like his reprobate mind? 

Abegunde’s grouse is not hard to decipher, though. There is peace and calm in Oyo State, in spite of his ceaseless vituperations and incitements to violence against the person and office of the Oyo State governor. Day in, day out, this fellow pours invectives on the governor, showing his dark, unhinged mind. Falsifying figures, conjuring nonexistent data, seeking to create chaos and disaffection as a master insurrectionist, this perpetual naysayer and implacable enemy of progress condemns every project that Makinde executes in the state he claims to love. Arguing with agbero candour, Abegunde has written tones of essays that portray him as a person completely lacking in civility and without home training (proper upbringing); a man with a purchasable conscience. He constantly insults the sensibilities of Oyo people, who rewarded Makinde's good performance with a second term of office on an unprecedented scale, by claiming that electing him was a mistake. Furious at every project completed, railing against infrastructure just to get at Makinde in his demonic obsession and jaundiced opposition, Abegunde is a pathetic puppy lost in the wilderness, an errand boy of political failures. Dirty inside out, chronically illogical and without even the slightest shred of reverence for facts, Abegunde declares with a bold face that nothing good can come from Makinde, a man constantly rated as one of Nigeria’s finest governors. Only in April, Governor Makinde and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Pastor Umo Eno, topped the chart as Nigeria’s “most loved” and “most inspiring” governors, according to the 2024 leadership survey report released by the Nigeria Social Media Week Group (NSG). Yet Abegunde calls him a failure. Not even Lucifer in his finery of falsehood is that tactless and senseless. 

In his megalomania, Abegunde said he had instructed Governor Makinde not to visit Eruwa but that the governor had not paid heed! Wow, this clown evidently thinks he is Emperor of Nigeria, and he had better undergo psychiatric evaluation before too late. He once claimed that Makinde's prompt payment of worker's salaries had a political undertone! Pray, will Nigeria not develop very fast if leaders play that kind of politics? If Makinde making Oyo State an investment destination is playing politics, are we not all lucky to be witnesses to such politicking? If the resurrection of the Fashola Agric Hub that has drawn international attraction is politics, shall we not borrow a line from William Shakespeare and ask the governor to please "play on" ? Who did the President of Sierra Leone come to visit and understudy? Was it not Makinde?

The charge that Makinde overruled the Supreme Court is not new. Abegunde made the same claim following the Supreme Court judgment on LG autonomy when, relying on science, data and logic, Governor Makinde posed certain fundamental questions about LG formation and administration in a federal set up. Needless to say, time has vindicated Makinde as the LGs remain mired in crisis, while Abegunde remains lost in the wilderness of ignorance. It is obvious that this clown lives, thinks, eats and sleeps and possibly even dreams Makinde, blinded by demonic hatred and chained down by perverse thoughts. The way he rants on a daily basis, you would think that this world was all about Makinde. He will soon blame Seyi Makinde for rewarding the 1998 WAFU Cup winners with the lands promised them by the Oyo State Government 27 years ago.

Does this man have a job? Or a family that offers him wise counsel?  Will somebody help this ruffian before he unravels finally in a mental facility? Perhaps he can still be salvaged even if he sounds irredeemably savage.
