Fixing Nigeria is a Collective Task ; NOA Director




All Nigerians have been enjoined to join hands with government to rebuild the nation. The clarion call was made by the new oyo  state Director of  the National Orientation Agency , Dr Olukemi Afolayan while featuring on " Politics NoW"  a radio talk - show on YES FM anchored by  Seun Owoseni yesterday. 


The State Director who  treated questions relating to the activities and functions of the Agency also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government and hope for a brighter future. 


Dr Olukemi Afolayan assured the listeners that the Federal Government receives constant feedback from the agency and is not unaware of the  situation at hand and is  working assiduously to better our conditions. She therefore called on all Citizens to join the government in the task of fixing the nation. 

The State Director responding to the issues of discrimination against the girl- child encouraged them to have self esteem and  not to settle for a  second fiddle. She also noted we all must invest in Girls' rights for them to make sustainable impact in the society. She cited the example of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who has maximized her skills to become a globally celebrated writer. 


When responders were lauding the Agency for having a rebound , the State Director gave credits to former Directors in the Agency who put it on a sound footing,  the footpaths, she is patiently following. 


While questioned on  the new strategy she is deploying to surmount the menace of Fake news which is assuming a frightening dimension in the country, Dr Afolayan emphasised that ,the Agency is intensifying efforts to  sensitise the public particularly the media and on the need to filter their reports and only feed the public with what is  genuine and examined to be fool -proof,  She also  promised to move  Do the right thing, Transform Nigeria programme of the Agency which is currently on campuses to the private institutions and  spread the net of the  Integrity Clubs in the sixty seven secondary schools in Oyo  state wider  to cover more schools  for optimum Sensitisation and  Value Re- Orientation..


Dr Olukemi Afolayan finally called on all Citizens to be alive in doing their constitutional duties and support  the governments at  all levels to get over the present challenges facing the country as no one will come from outside to do it for us.

OYSCOHEST LONG SERVING STAFF LAUNCHES BOOK ON PSYCHIATRY




Succour has now come for  Science Students , Medical Officers and and members of the public  who are eager to have in-depth knowledge on mental health  with the launching of a book by  a long Serving Officer of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Eleyele Ibadan Doctor Adeniyi Lawal .

The book is titled  Concise knowledge for Layman In  Psychiatry


Welcoming the guests  to the launching ceremony held at the College Hall in Eleyele Ibadan ,the Provost of the College Pharmacist Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo congratulated the Author who is the Head of General Studies Dr,Adaniyi Lawal  for writing the book at a time like this when information is mostly needed on mental health and psychiatric issues .


Mrs Oyewo said the book had exhaustively discussed mental health matters  required of a normal person and focuses  on how best to maintain normal and heathy behaviour recommending the book for everybody .


The OYCOHEST boss noted with delight that the launching  was unique as it coincided with World Mental Health Day which is annually observed on October 10 .


Other  Speakers in their  goodwill messages pointed out that the humanitarian Services of the Authour  Dr Adeniyi Lawal  had assumed commendable dimensions with the writing of the book .

Reviewing the book ,a  veteran Pharmacist and Mogaji in Olubadan chieftaincy Hierarchy and a Frontline Lecturer in the Pharmacy  Technician Training Department ,Pharm.Hamidu Oluyedun said he had read the book  saying it was interesting educative and entertaining  recommending it for people


The book was later launched by those present at the ceremony including the College Provost Pharmacist Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo,the Registrar Mrs Dupe Ayoola ,the  Librarian Mr Kayode Akinsoji ,the Director of Works Engineer Ayokunmi Ojerinde and the .College Bursar Mrs Adeola Olanase and all Heads of Departments  in the College 



The launching was preceded by a documentary on Who is Dr. Adeniyi Lawal packaged by the Public Relations Officer of the College Mr Sola Samuel Ojewole .

Education Comm. Applauds Oyo Teacher, Schools Received Fed. Govt’s Excellent Award

 



Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu,on Monday commended the management of the Government College, Ibadan; Second Home College, Ibadan and Mr. Babarinde Samson Oluwaseun from Methodist Basic School Iseyin, won the President’s Teachers and School Awards respectively, for the State.


The Commissioner, while playing host to the winning Teacher, Mr. Babarinde Samson Oluwaseun and the Principals of the Two Schools in his Office, Secretary, Ibadan, appreciated them for being good ambassadors of the State.


Prof. Adelabu explained that the award is testament to the fact that Oyo state has committed, competent and hardworking teachers.


He, therefore, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of teachers, especially in the areas of training and re-training, prompt payment of salaries and improved conducive environment for teaching and learning in public schools through infrastructure renewal.


He assured that the  teachers’ wellbeing will continue to be given priority by the State Government.


The number one teacher in the state, enjoined other teachers in the state to emulate good gestures of the awardees by being good ambassadors of the State.


He further urged the teacher to see the award as a motivation to continue to do the best, knowing that such commitment will one day be rewarded.


In his words, “The effectiveness of our teachers can be judged or measured by the President’s Teachers and School Excellent Awards of Excellence Received.

"I urged other teachers in the State to emulate them by staying committed because they remain the mirror with which students view themselves”.

OPC New Era congratulate New Ikolaba and Jagun of Ibadanland






The OPC New Era Oyo State Chapter on the leadership of Comrade  Rotimi Olumo has rejoice with Engr. Dotun Sanusi and Sen, Teslimu Folarin on their Elevation as Jagun of olubadan and ikolaba  Of ibadanland.

Olumo said the two ibadan son has contributing  tremendously to the growth of ibadanland and also they  have love and passion for ibadan.

Hip-Hop Icon, Eedris Abdulkareem Condemns Attack On Bullion Hotel, Pays Tributes To Mohbad In New Video

 



A hip-hop icon,  Legendary Eedris Abdulkareem, has condemned in strong term the recent attack on Bullion Hotel, Shimawa, Ogun State, by political thugs who were allegedly aided by men in police uniform, saying an attack on the hotel is an attack on its owner, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo.


Ajadi is the Chief Executive Officer of Bullion Group of Companies and also a chieftain of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Ogun State.


In a new video released by Abdulkareem titled, "Stand Up For Your Rights", he called on the Inspector General of Police,  Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate the recent alleged attack on Bullion Hotel, by a combined team of policemen and political thugs, stating that nobody should because of politics ruined Ajadi's businesses.


Eedris in the song, said Ogun State belongs to all and wonder what Ajadi had done to warrant attempting to destroy his businesses.


He also condemned the arrest of staff of Bullion Hotel by the police, lamenting that the police has turned the complainants who are victims in  the attack to attackers.


Eedris also called on youths to resist being suppressed and urged them to stand up and defend their rights.


The last lyric in the video was dedicated to the memory of the late Nigerian singer and rapper,  Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mobhad who died recently at the age of 27.


He described him as a hero and appreciated that his death was given honour.

Olivetian Honour Oyo HOS, Commends Governor Makinde





A retired Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Civil Service, Pastor David Olatunde has commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde for appointing Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni as the 24th Head of Service in the State.


Pastor Olatunde stated this during a reception programme organized in honour of the HOS, held at  Eleventh House, Jericho, Ibadan.


He described the appointment of the Head of Service as a round peg in a round hole, saying that she is always ready to move with the system. 


Olatunde commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his magnanimity to appoint one of them (an Olivetian) as the number one civil servant in the Pacesetter State.


In his word of exhortation, Pastor Dotun Ajayi enjoined the Head of Service not to hold on desperately to what she did not struggle to get, while hinting that God will join her to succeed in her present position. 


In his welcome address, the Chairman Planning Committee of the programme, Dr. Bisi Ayoola said Governor Makinde has chosen the best and he would never be disappointed in running the affairs of the State Civil Service.


Responding, the State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni appreciated the Olivetian who honoured her with a civic reception.



She commended Governor Seyi Makinde for giving her the opportunity to serve the State in that capacity.

Oyo Education Commissioner Extols Teachers on Occasion of World Teachers' Day


 


Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu has felicitated the teachers in the state on the occasion of 2023 World Teachers' Day, describing them as the most important personalities in the society.


Prof. Adelabu, in a statement issued and made available to journalists on Thursday in Ibadan, congratulated the teachers in Oyo state as they join their colleagues globally to celebrate this year's World Teachers' Day, which has”  The Teachers We Need For The Education We Want : The Global Imperative  To Reverse The Teacher Shortage” as its theme.


He stated further that the importance of teaching could be more appreciated with an understanding that through it, many other professions are born.


While commending the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in Oyo state for making the state proud and

sustaining the relationship between the body and the government, the commissioner pledged that the latter would continue to do its best to meet the welfare of those in the profession.



The number One Teacher in the state said that Governor Seyi Makinde's administration will never joke with their welfare, saying in line with this year's team, the government will employ more teachers to fill vacancies in Primary Schools by next year.


He maintained that Governor Seyi Makinde led administration will continue  to improve the welfare of teachers for the overall good of the state’s education sector.


Prof.Salihu, further commended the teachers for their commitment to teaching and learning in all public and private schools in the state, affirming that his boss, Governor Seyi Makinde placed a high premium on the welfare of teachers and other workers in the public service.


He said: As you celebrate this day, I congratulate you all, our dear teachers and look forward to a more rewarding engagement between the government and teachers in Oyo State"



By God's grace, in the first quarter of next year, Governor Makinde led administration will employ more Teachers to the Primary Schools.
