OYSCOHEST Organises Two-Day Orientation Programme for New Staff






The Management of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology (OYSCOHEST), Eleyele, Ibadan, under the leadership of the Provost, Pharmacist (Mrs) Oluyemisi Oyewo, recently organised a two-day orientation programme for the newly recruited staff of the College.



The event, which was held at the College Hall, was declared open by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan (Akoro). In his remarks, he congratulated the new staff and encouraged them to see their appointments as an opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the College. He also appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the absorption of the previously engaged contract staff and the employment of new ones, while calling for more infrastructural support to expand the College.



Hon. Olaniyan, an erstwhile Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly also pledged to continue to support the College in it's drive towards achieving greater heights.


In her welcome address, the Provost, Pharmacist (Mrs) Oluyemisi Oyewo, commended the Governor for his continued support for the institution and urged the new workers to reciprocate the gesture through diligence, integrity, commitment, and discipline in their duties.


One of the major highlights of the programme was the series of lectures delivered by the Permanent Secretary, Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Alhaji Taiwo Niran Mustapha; the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Alhaji Bello; Alhaji Lekan Wahab, a former Director in the Oyo State Civil Service; the Director of Finance and Accounts, Office of the State Accountant General, Mr. Kilanko; and a member of the College Governing Council and former State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu.



They emphasized the values expected of public servants, including integrity, transparency, and loyalty, as well as the importance of obeying the rules and regulations of the Public Service.


The orientation also placed strong focus on building qualities such as teamwork, self-esteem, discipline, and accountability. These were highlighted as essential not only for individual growth but also for the collective progress of the College.


Conclusively, positive feedback from participants,  described the orientation as enlightening and valuable in preparing them to take on their new responsibilities.



Meanwhile, the OYSCOHEST Chapter of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) has also been inaugurated, with MLS Popoola serving as the Chapter Chairman.

The College Provost congratulated members of the newly inaugurated chapter,   urging them to always uphold the professional ethics of their profession, assuring them of the Management's support.
