CHILDREN'S DAY: HCD OFFICE CELEBRATES WITH CHILDREN AT ORPHANAGE HOMES AND SCHOOLS

 



As a further demonstration of the commitment of the Governor Seyi Makinde's administration towards encouraging children to succeed in life, the Human Capital Development (HCD)Office visited and celebrated the 2024 Children's Day with the Jesus Children Missions Outreach (JCMO), New Bodija, Ibadan, the Federation of Muslim Women's Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Akobo Estate, Ibadan as well as the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Persons at Temidire Area, Moniya, Oyo State.


While delivering the goodwill message from His Excellency, the Executive Assistant to the Governor, Rev, Idowu Ogedengbe, who was accompanied by Mr. A. O. Kolapo, Director (Administration & Supplies), admonished the children to be focused, set goals for themselves and pursue them diligently, noting that with God and hard work, they can succeed and achieve excellence in life.  


He restated the commitment of Governor Makinde to the provision of the right foundation to enable them succeed in life. While at the Moniya Rehabilitation, the Governor's Aide empathised with the people living with disability and encouraged them to discover, develop and deploy the hidden talents in them.  He commended  the Care-Givers and admonished them to see their job as a call to serve God and humanity faithfully.  


While receiving the items being donated by the HCD Office towards celebrating with the children, representative of JCMO, Mrs Rosemary Odigbo, thanked the Governor for his continued support, which serves as a source of great relief and encouragement to them to continue in the work.



The Chairperson of FOMWAN, Alhaja K. A. Lawal, appreciated the kind gesture which coincided with the programme they organized for children from various schools and their home. She prayed for His Excellency to continue on the right path. 


At the Moniya Rehabilitation Center, the principal, Mrs Odebunmi Eunice Olayemi, stated that the visit was heartwarming and motivating to her and her team. She also appreciated the Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde while noting the need for more support.  


The HCD Office also partnered with LIFEBEARERS towards putting together an event to celebrate the children in Papa Community Waterside, Apete, Ibadan.


Gifts were equally sent to some private and public schools in Ibadan towards commemorating the 2024 Children's Day.

OYSCOHEST PROVOST CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE ON HIS 5TH ANNIVERSARY IN OFFICE

 


 

The Provost of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology,  Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo  has congratulated the Executive Governor of Oyo State,  Engineer Oluseyi Makinde,  FNSE on  the fifth anniversary of his administration.


The congratulatory message is contained in a statement  issued on behalf of the  Provost by the Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr . Sola Samuel Ojewole in Ibadan , Oyo State Capital .


She commended His Excellency's impact on the State through the developmental and infrastructural projects and initiatives, particularly in the health and education sectors,  to which the College belongs.



She expressed the appreciation of the College Management, Staff and Students for the continous financial and logistics support of the Governor  for the 91 year-old institution, which was established for the training of middle level healthcare providers.


She stated that his administration's support made it possible for the College to get full accreditation of most of its academic programmes by the National Board for Technical Education and other  Professional Regulatory Bodies.


Mrs Oluyemisi Oyewo prayed that God will grant the Governor, good health, wisdom, understanding and divine guidance required for him to perform his duties efficiently and effectively and to move Oyo State to an enviable level, in the  overall interest of the good people of Oyo State .

NUJ Congratulates new Oyo NAWOJ Executives, Tasks them to Prioritize Members’ Welfare




The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council has congratulated Omolola Alamu on her election as the new Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State chapter.


In a statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Ademola Babalola, and Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the union urged Alamu and her executive members to prioritize the welfare of members and operate an open-door administration.


The statement reads, "We congratulate Omolola Alamu and her executive members on their well-deserved election. 


“We charge them to embrace all members and operate an inclusive administration that promotes the welfare and interests of all NAWOJ members in Oyo State."


The union also admonished the new executives to work towards a virile, peaceful, and prosperous NAWOJ in the state, saying, "We urge them to build bridges, foster unity and promote professionalism among members. 


“We are confident that they have the capacity to take NAWOJ to greater heights,” the NUJ added.


Other members of the new executive include Bola Okanlawon (Vice Chairperson); Eniola Adeaga (Secretary); Opeyemi Ogunniyi (Assistant Secretary); Mosun Akinola (Treasurer); Kehinde Igbari (Financial Secretary); and Temitope Oyewole (Auditor).


The NUJ statement wishes the new executives a successful tenure and offers its support and cooperation in advancing the interests of journalists in Oyo State.

The President of CA C Nigeria and Overseas Pastor  Samuel Olusegun Oladele has showered encomium on the Zonal Superintendent of CAC  Orisun Ife Idi Orogbo off Ring Road Ibadan , Oyo State  and the Secretary of CAC World Evangelistic Outreach  under the General Evangelist  Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji in person of Pastor Joseph Olumide Makinwa  describing the celebrant , Makinwa , as a reliable , painstaking , go getter, resilient , spirit filled, energetic, responsible , focussed  , enigmatic and promising man of God  under Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria  and overseas .


Speaking at Pastor Makinwa  60th  Birthday held at an event Centre in Ibadan attended by CAC Principal Officers from across the World including the CAC General Evangelist  Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji with his wife , Pastor Elisha Olusanya Alalade , the CAC  Finance Director , Pastor Joseph Omitinde, the CAC  Director of Publicity Pastor Ade Alawode and a host of other eminient CAC Ministers ,





The CAC  President, Pastor Olusegun Oladele noted with delight that Pastor Joseph Olumide Makinwa has always been readily available for CAC assignment adding that he is an inestimable and valuable vessel for  CAC with promising future..


The CAC Number One Pastor explained that Pastor Olumide Makinwa is uncommon for his steadfastness , commitment  and spiritual fire brand..



In his own remark at the colourful event , the General Evangelist of CAC, Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji said the Celebrant is his Closest ally who is reliable and rogged in nature pointing out that impossibility is never in the Dictionary of Pastor Olumide Makinwa .



Prophet Hezekiah added that the Celebrant is trust worthy , straight forward, plain , and hardworking .


He noted with delight that Pastor Joseph Olumide Makinwa  had always stood by him even during trying period and he had always been a pillar of support in the propagation of the gospel in CAC.



Delivering a  Sermon at the 60th birthday  celebration , the  Preacher , Pastor Gideon Oladokun congratulated the Celebrant for attaining 60 years inspire of rough and unpromising beginning .


He said Pastor Joseph Olumide Makinwa had zeal for rural Evangelism since the beginning of his life and that had translated to what he had become now under CAC.


He charged other CAC Ministers of God to emulate him as there is always reward for what is done , good or bad.


Reading the Celebrant Biography, his wife lady Evangelist Makinwa described her loving husband as a responsible  father , caring spouse, gentle but principled, straight forward  and spirit filled .


She said she had never regretted their Union  since 1994 when she met him as a young Corps member then.


Giving his testimonies , the Celebrant , Pastor Joseph Olumide Makinwa  thanked God for sustaining and preserving him in spite of all odds  unpromising and rough beginning .


 He vividly recounted that he was riddled with various spiritual attacks while he was young but through the providence of he sailed through  .


He took time to appreciate his parents, the Late mother and the  over  100year old father who is still hale and hearty, for their caring and spiritual exposures right from birth .


Pastor Olumide Makinwa  also appreciated the Infant Teachers for bringing him up in the way of God through which he navigated  from nobody to someone now .


The 60th birthday of Pastor Olumide Makinwa remained unique as it pointed to the fact that one with God's is the majority and that there is reward  for what is done even here on earth  and also hereafter going by Biblical injunctions .

CAC OkE IYE IBUKUN ALAKIA ISEBO IBADAN CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF ABIYE DAY IN GRAND STYLE WITH TESTIMONIES.




Christ Apostolic Church  CAC  Oke Iye IbukunAlakia Isebo Ibadan has marked the 2024 Abiye day which is the 15th Edition  amid pomp's and peagantries with series of testimonies over the faithfulness of God over the Faith Home and the Church members .


Declaring open the 2024 Abiye Day , the District Superintendent  Of CAC Oke Iye Ibukun Alakia Isebo , Egbeda Local  Government , Oyo State , Nigeria , Pastor Layi Afelumo  Commended the Elders, Deaconesses , Church Officers and other church members for their supports and cooperation .



He specially  eulogized the Matron of the Faith Home Lady Evangelist Dorcas Funmilayo Afelumo for her resilience , doggedness and commitment towards the Faith Home and the Church activities .



In her brief remarks , the Registrar of CINDICO , Ibadan Campus Prophetess Betty Olukotun congratulated the Matron Lady Evangelist Fummilayo Afelumo for her efforts in keeping the flag of the Faith Home and the Church  flying against all odds .



Lady Evangelist Olukotun who thanked the husband of the Matron Pastor Layi Afelumo for cooperating with his wife in achieving so much described the Matron as a reliable , painstaking personality with sterling leadership styles.


Delivering a sermon earlier, the Guest Minister, Prophet Michael Fakinle  congratulated the Church for witnessing the 15th Anniversary of Abiye Day celebrations calling on members to be steadfast  in working for God.

Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state at the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, has congratulated Alhaji (Chief) Dr. Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (De-Damak), Aare of Ibadanland and Otunba Parakoyi of Osogboland, on his decoration as the Grand Commander of Ibadan Culture and most patriotic Ibadan indigene by the President General and the Executive Council of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).

Nigeria calamity is summontable -Aladekugbe.




The Bishop of the Diocese of Ibadan North, The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Rt Rev Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe has given succor to Nigerians by assuring them that the present calamities facing the country will soon fade away.

 

The Bishop gave the admonition message during the opening ceremony of the 2nd session of the 9th synod held at St Paul's Anglican church, Yemetu, Ibadan.


The message was contained in the press release issued and signed by the Diocesan Communicator, Comrade Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga shortly after the opening ceremony of the synod.


The Bishop assured the congregation that the present calamities facing the country which include insecurity of Life and property, poverty, inflation, hunger, selfishness, corruption, hatred and injustice are seasonal and ephemeral that will soon disappear.


The clergy urged religious leaders to lead by examples, de-emphasize the worldly materials but lay much  emphasis on spiritual development, salvation and love for one another.

 

In his synod opening sermon, the invited Bishop of Ika diocese, Rt

Rev. Godfrey Ekpenisi,a guest preacher asked the congregation, who is on the Lord's side ?  According to him, features of not being at Lord's side include lust for wealth, involvement in ritual activities, being crazy for fashion and nakedness , homosexuality ,but to be on Lord's side, we should understand God's work and salvation , belief in Holy scriptures and do away with sins.


Finally, the guest preacher called on all to be born again, have faith in God,have spiritual, love, prayers and praise connections.


The synod is comprised of the Houses of Bishop, Clergy and Laity  to discuss and take decisions on the issues affecting the diocese.

The Synod which started on Thursday 23rd  will end with closing ceremony on Sunday 26th May, 2024.

OYO GOVT. ANNOUNCES NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY SCREENING TEST DATE, TIME


The Nigerian Defence Academy Screening Test (NDAST) for regular Course is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 25th May, 2024. 


In a statement issued and signed  by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, the CBT Exams is scheduled for three periods the same day.


Oyo State has been designated as one of the 16 centers for the screening test and the venue is now Ibadan Jamb Office, Agodi G.R.A, Ibadan.


The statement said Candidates are advised to check their Jamb site for further information on the (NDAST) Examination time table. 


The statement added that candidates must come with their Screening Test Card and Acknowledgement slip to the centre.


The Secretary to the State Government enjoined listeners to circulate the Exams information to the eligible candidate of Oyo State Origin that Nigerian Defence Academy Screening Test (NDAST) will commence by 7:00am prompt on Saturday 25th, May, 2024 at the Jamb Office, Agodi GRA, Ibadan

Prioritize Service Delivery, Odidiomo Charges Oyo Newly Elected L.G Chairmen





Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo), member representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency of Oyo state at the House of Representatives who is also the Chairman, House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, has commended outgoing local government chairmen for their diligence and apt response to duties, while charging newly elected ones to serve with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Hon. Olajide also commended Governor Makinde for the smooth transition process devoid of acrimony or bitterness, particularly the wisdom and exceptional leadership provided by the Governor in resolving all pre and post-election fallout before the swearing-in of the new chairmen. 


He urged the Governor not to relent in his effort at offering the right leadership and support to the incoming chairmen, who will be responsible for implementing the state government's policies and programmes at the local government level.

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the quality and caliber of party people he is bringing on board into his government as political appointees.


This commendation was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan by Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide.


According to Olajide, "Governor Makinde's reward system, which is commendable, has seen dedicated party members and hardworking individuals being appointed into various positions."


He said, "Governor Makinde has shown that he is a leader who recognizes and rewards hard work and dedication". 


"The recent appointments he has made are a testament to this, as they are all party loyalists and individuals who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the state."


It will be recalled, that a former chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Maintenance Agency, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, has been appointed as the chairman of the Oyo State Hospitals Management Board, the former chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Ademola Omotosho, was appointed, chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation.


Similarly, a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Busari Olayemi, was announced as the new Executive Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs to the executive Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde among other recent appointments made by the Oyo state government.


Olajide, a two term lawmaker, representing Ibadan North-west/ Ibadan South-west federal constituency area of Oyo state at the national assembly, while also congratulating the new appointees, described them as individuals, who have excelled in their various endeavors in life and are considered worthy of their new appointments.


"These individuals are seasoned politicians and professionals who have what it takes to contribute to the development of Oyo State".


"I have no doubt that they will bring their wealth of experience and expertise to bear in their new roles."


The lawmaker also praised Governor Makinde for his inclusive style of governance and urged him to continue to tow that part of honour and greatness synonymous with great leaders around the world,

Southwest NUJ Leaders Applaud Gov Makinde for Holding NEC Meeting in June



Leaders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) from across the six States of the Southwest Nigeria on Friday rise from its zonal meeting in Ibadan, applauding the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for giving approval to host the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Union in Ibadan next month (June).


The commendation was part of the communique arrived at, after extensive deliberations on issues affecting NUJ and the Southwest at large.


the Zonal leadership meeting was presided over by the Vice President, Princess Ronke Afebioye-Samo.


They urged other State Governors in the zone to emulate wonderful disposition of Governor Makinde to the media profession, well-being of journalists and the NUJ in general.


The hosting Chairman, Ademola Babalola had appraised the leaders of Governor Makinde’s countless supports to the Union over the years, with emphasis on the recent approval to host the NEC in Ibadan.


The Ondo State NUJ Council chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite had equally commended Ademola Babalola leadership for always changing the face of the Union’s secretariat because “every time we are in Ibadan, it’s always one new project or the other. Mr Chairman, Ademola Babalola deserve to be appreciated for his many giant strides as a leader with focus and determination to achieve laudable things for our Union”.

“The Zone while bemoaning deplorable condition of facilities at States and Federal Government-owned media outfits in the Southwest, calls on Governments to improve on funding of their owned media organisations across the Southwest region to enable our members serve the public efficiently and effectively.


“The Southwest NUJ Commends the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the approval to host the NUJ NEC meeting in Ibadan which is the gathering of leadership of all journalists across the country; noting that the gesture is a demonstration of Gov. Makinde's love for the media.


“The Zone equally hailed the Forum of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State chapter for renovating and recent commissioning of their structure at the Oyo State NUJ Press Centre.


“The Union appreciated Southwest Governors, particularly the Governors of Oyo, Osun and Ogun, who have always provided support for their State Councils and its members, urging others to emulate such gesture.


“The leadership of the NUJ Zone B specifically appreciated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for appointing a journalist, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya as the first NUJ member to be the Head of Service of the state. The Union appealed to other State Governors to magnanimously elevate qualified journalists/Information officers to the position of Permanent Secretary, Head of Service and other key public offices.


“The Zone calls for an urgent actions from the Federal Government to reconstruct and rehabilitate some deplorable roads in the Southwest region especially Ilesa-Ibadan expressway, Akure-Ado Ekiti road, Ibadan-Odeda-Abeokuta road among others.

   

“The Zone also urges the Federal Government to review some of its economic policies and come up with innovations that would provide succour for the suffering masses.


“The B-Zone charges the Government to immediately reach amicable resolution with the NLC/TUC in approving acceptable new National Minimum wage for workers amidst harsh economic situation in the country. 


“The Zone commends Oyo Council for hosting a well-successful Zonal Meeting, while Osun council will be the next host state, the communique signed by Com. Leke Adegbite (Chairman, Ondo Council; Com. Olodo Bridge: Olayinka Segelu hails Makinde’s responsive leadership




A Germany-based Ibadan-born politician, Hon Oladimeji Olayinka Segelu, has applauded the efforts of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, towards the reconstruction of Olodo Bridge, of which its destruction had occasioned a lot of inconvenience for foot-travelers and motorists.


Hon. Olayinka Segelu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chairman/CEO of Y'SEG Hotels and Suites, gave the commendation in a statement issued on Monday.


The completed right side of the Olodo Bridge along the Ibadan-Iwo Road was formally opened at the weekend to vehicular movement after nine month of closure due to its collapse.


“My sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his purposeful leadership style and the great vision he has for the Pacesetter State. This is another remarkable feat by the people’s Governor, Seyi Makinde, and a display of good governance that brings comfort to the people and enhance economic development of the State,” Segelu said.


According to the PDP stalwart, “Governor Makinde deserves applause for his demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment towards the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Oyo State. With the reconstruction of half part of the Olodo Bridge located along a federal road and destroyed by rain in July 2023, thereby causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists living around the vicinity and the passersby, the governor has proven that he is indeed a responsive leader who cares about the plight of his people.


“The collapse of the bridge had caused a lot of havoc to the people living in the area. Many lives were lost, there were robbery incidents, and serious clashes among motorists as they struggle to cross the alternative route provided. The governor Seyi Makinde has done the bridge bringing so much succour and relief to the people resident in the area and people traveling along the route, even though the expressway belongs to the Federal Government. It is the only expressway linking Ibadan, Oyo State and Iwo, Osun State together.” 


Dwelling on appointments by Makinde, Olayinka Segelu appreciated the governor “for his recently released political appointees”.


He however observed that “The governor should not forget the true sons of Lagelu Local Government (LGA) who worked tirelessly for his re-election in 2023. We shouldn’t be marginalized in the distribution of political appointments.”

The Lawmaker representing Lagelu State Contituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly,  Hon. Akintunde Olajide has extolled the Executive Governor of the State,  Engr. Oluseyi Makinde for his laudable dreams of bringing light of  democracy into the door steps of every individual in Oyo State.


Hon. Olajide , popularly known as AKT  made the disclosure on Saturday while speaking with newsmen  shortly after the opening of the first phase of Olodo Bridge for vehicular movement, and ease the burden of road users along  the axis.


The Lawmaker described the good gesture of Governor Makinde as a great commitment of delivering dividend of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the state which in return will pave ways for rapid development and expansion of the State economy. 


Appreciating Engr. Makinde further for his vision and unflinching support to his Constituents and entire citizenry of the State,  Hon. Olajide added that the construction of 35.6km of Iwo Road  - Olodo Bank - Elesingodogbo - Odo Oba would lessen the burden of the people around the community and also boost the economy in the area.

Recall that the old Olodo Bridge was destroyed by rain on July 4, 2023, thereby causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists living along the area . The completed half had been opened to pedestrians only about two weeks ago,  while the facility also opened for the motorist plying the routes by the State Government on Saturday.

Olubunmi Oni One Year in Office as Oyo HOS: Corporate Civil Service, Accelerated Development and Sustainable Development

If you are white, people cannot say that you are black because it is an open secret, you cannot call white black, they are distinct colours entirely.

Mrs Olubunmi Oni mni, the 29th Oyo State Head of Service is a quintessential administrator in the pacesetter State with the cutting edge, she has traversed the length and breadth of the Civil Service with unblemish track records in the State.

No wonder Permanent Secretaries, Executive Secretaries, General Managers and the newly minted Tutor-Generals and Solicitor Generals keyed into the agenda and administrative prowess of the Olubunmi Oni led Head of Service in Oyo State.

She was sworn-in as the Head of Service on the 9th May, 2023 by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde at the Executive Council Chamber Secretariat, Ibadan.

When she assumed duty, she facilitated training programmes for senior management staff and  junior staff both locally and in the diaspora.

In terms of development, like Seyi Makinde like Olubunmi Oni, as Seyi Makinde is developing the State from mere ancient State to modern State, Olubunmi Oni mni is developing the State Civil Service from dossier to digital and corporate Civil/Public Service.

Olubunmi Oni led Head of Service  in Oyo State encouraged Civil Servants across the State to develop themselves by making use of the Library at the Office of the Head of Service to further sharpen their knowledge in the service.

Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development said Mrs Olubunmi Oni's One Year in Office as the Head of Service has been impactful as she has tactically touched Ministries, Departments and Agencies with lots of restructuring, it became clearer and strategic what the activities of each agencies should be, when the vision is clear, it is easier to achieve.

"She ensures regular meetings of the Heads of MDA's to review activities for strategic development of Oyo State. She is passionate about setting a target and achieving such a target, under her watch, we are moving from the archaic style of doing things to the corporate Civil Service".


Dr. Muhideen Olatunji is the Executive Secretary, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board. He gave kudos to the current Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni mni, saying that, there is peace in the public sector, he described the Head of Service as a woman of virtue that has path with destiny, one thing you cannot take away from her, is her humility and she is approachable just like the former Head of Service, Mrs Ololade Agboola.

"She has been able to bring togetherness among the key officers in the civil service, civil servants have been able to get their promotion regularly, indeed, she is a formidable woman".

The Chairman Forum of Administrative Officers, Oyo State Mr Kayode Muyiwa said the current Head of Service has moved the administrative cadre forward with her open door policy.

Interestingly, the current Head of Service facilitated training and re-training for all staff, regular promotion exercise, staff welfare and supervision of day-to-day activities of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Government.

ICSAN To Partner Oyo HOS on Corporate Civil Service

 



The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, mni has called on Civil/Public Servants in the State to key into the corporate Governance imitative of the present administration by registering themselves with a professional body.


She stated this during a courtesy visit by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Oyo State Chapter, held at HOS conference room, Secretariat, Ibadan.


She called on administrative officers in the Civil Service and other cadres to enroll with a professional Institute like ICSAN for their career enhancement.


She said "the Head of Service of the Federation has advised administrative officers in the service to professionalise the cadre by registering with  a professional body for the training programme".


The State Head of Service charged the Institute (ISCAN) to review their curriculum to be public sector friendly this according to her would enable civil Servants to key into their academic programme.


She admonished Civi Servants to encourage their colleagues to register with ICSAN for them to be more productive after the retirement in the service.


In her remarks, the Chairman of the Institute, Mrs Fausat Oluokun said ICSAN is one of the leading professions in Nigeria in training and carrier enhancement, hinting that the Institute is not limited to the private sector alone and also open to the public sectors. 


She then commended Governor Seyi Makinde administration in the State for approving training and re- training for its workforce in the State.

Willy Oluyole, Akin Williams Funmilayo Turns 61

 



Former Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, now the State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Akin Williams Funmilayo turns 61 on Friday May 10.


The Management staff of the Lands and Housing Ministry gathered in their hundred in his office to celebrate the man of history.


In their goodwill messages some permanent Secretaries across the Ministries, Departments and Agencies described Akin Funmilayo as a generous man since he joined the Oyo State Civil Service.


The staff of the Ministry lavished encomium on (Willy Oluyole) for the tremendous achievements he has recorded in the ministry.



The Director of lands of the Ministry Alhaji Audu described Akin Funmilayo as a straight forward person, brilliant, intelligent and witty, he said the commissioner always encourages the staff of the ministry to do their work diligently.


They unanimously said Akin Funmilayo is a collaborator of good vision, hinting that the turn out of people that trooped out to celebrate him on his special day showed he is a man of people.

MHR, ODIDIOMO Begins Consultation on constitutional Review, visit OBA MURITALA ADEBAYO AKANDE (SPLASH FM)






The importance of collaboration between leaders and stakeholders in shaping the future of Nigeria has again been reiterated as the process towards amending the 1999 constitution continues to gain momentum.


Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide (Odidiomo), member representing Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West federal constituency in the House of Representatives and the representative of Oyo state on the Constitution amendment committee stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, Chairman, West Midland Communications, owners of Splash FM/Lagelu FM, at felele, Ibadan residence over the weekend.


A statement by Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, the chairman, House committee on Digital and Information Communication revealed that ongoing efforts at entrenching a people centred constitution which will be tailored round the needs of the people necessitated the visit to prominent sons and daughters of Oyo state to seek their opinion on the amendment process.


Hon. Olajide informed Oba Adebayo Akande, that he represents Oyo State on the Constitution Review Committee and that he is in Ibadan to seek the input, opinion, and contributions of prominent son's and daughters of Oyo state on the ongoing debate on the constitutional amendment process.


Responding, Oba Adebayo Akande, emphasized the importance of regionalization, stating that state creation can follow later. 


He praised the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, recalling his good deeds and the impact of his free education policy, which has produced many professors and other top professionals across the country till date.


He attributed the development of Oyo state to the then regionalization and noted that Awolowo's only mistake was asking the region to join the federal government, which he failed to achieve.


Oba Akande further stated that Awolowo did not foresee the military takeover and that his development efforts in Lagos State are still evident till today. 


He reiterated his belief in regionalization, which he said will address existing lapses, and state creation can follow thereafter. 


Oba Akande also highlighted the importance of the seaport, which has extended to Cotonou, as a significant benefit for the West.


Hon. Olajide appreciated Oba Adebayo Akande's insightful contributions and assured him that his inputs would be considered in the constitutional amendment process.

ODIDIOMO Urges Governments to Prioritize Digital Literacy

 



Hon. Dhikrullahi Olajide, a member of the House of Representatives and chairman House Committee on Digital and Information Communication has called for the declaration of a state of emergency on digital literacy in Nigeria. 


Hon. Olajide made this call while fielding questions on a live interview programme on Lagelu FM, Ibadan.


According to him, "Data is the new gold and it has become a crucial resource for economic growth and development, just as oil was the mainstay of our economy in the past, data is now the new oil". 


"We must prioritize digital literacy and skills acquisition to prepare our youths for the digital economy."


He emphasized that the future of our development as a country is digital and hence Nigerian youths must be digitally compliant to remain relevant in the global economy. 


"We cannot afford to be left behind in this digital revolution". 


"Our youths must be equipped with the necessary skills to compete with their peers globally," he said.


Hon. Adedeji Olajide while further highlighting the importance of digital literacy in improving the country's economy said "Digital literacy will not only improve the employability of our youths but also help increase the nation's GDP. 


"We must invest in digital infrastructure, training, and skills acquisition to make Nigeria a hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship."

Hon. Oyo Govt Unveils Free Technology Skill Training For 1,000 Students





As part of its effort to ensure quality and sustainable development in the education sector in line with the Omituntun 2.0 Agenda of the state governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, the Office of the Human Capital Development has revealed its readiness to train 1,000 senior secondary schools students on free coding and non-code technology skills.


The Executive Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Administration, Revd. Idowu Ogedengbe, stated this on Friday, during a Press Briefing held at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.


Ogedengbe noted that the initiative, which is aimed at launching a groundbreaking technology programme to empower senior secondary school students across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State, with technology skills, will be implemented in partnership with some private investors in the technology sector.


He maintained that the training, which will be held between July 15th and July 19th at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, will begin with selected schools in all the eleven (11) local governments in Ibadan Main and Less Cities, while other beneficiaries from the remaining local governments will be trained at a subsequent date.


He said: “This pilot programme will witness an unprecedented event where 1,000 senior secondary school students from the 11 local governments of Ibadan will receive specialised training in coding and non-code tech skills.


“The next phases of the initiative would see us taking the training to the remaining LGAs with a view to ensuring that the impact is widespread and even across all the constituencies in Oyo State.”


“This initiative marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing quality education and preparing our youth for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.


“CodeGarage Africa has been at the forefront of promoting digital literacy across Africa, and we are delighted to partner with them in this endeavour with the support of Zeeh Africa and 386Konsult. We aim to equip our students with the tech skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the increasingly digital world.


”The importance of coding or non-code tech skills cannot be overstated in today’s society, from driving innovation to solving complex problems, tech skills are a fundamental skill that opens doors to countless opportunities.


“Introducing coding education to our senior secondary school students will allow us to lay the foundation for a future where they can excel in technology-driven fields and contribute meaningfully to the development of our state and beyond.”


Ogedengbe added that the programme is in tandem with the vision of Governor Makinde on education, as his government’s policy is not only to invest in the future of the youths but to also position Oyo State as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.


He, therefore, encouraged stakeholders, including parents, educators, and the private sector, to support and participate in the laudable programme to unlock the full potentials of the young stars to become leaders in the digital age.


In their remarks, the partnering private investors, CodeGarage Africa, Miss Dolapo Ayeni and her counterpart, Zeeh Africa, Mr David Adeleke, said training the students from the grassroots level is very useful to the ecosystem.


They added that it is another way of catching them young and also exposing them to entrepreneurship, even as they called for more partners to collaborate with the Oyo State government.



Alao honoured as Grand Patron, Great Independence Hall, UI






A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Engineer Oyedele Hakeem Alao (Allow Alao), has been honoured as the Grand Patron of Great Independence Hall, University of Ibadan.


Alao was honoured at the maiden Personality Lecture with the theme, "Integral Role of Campus Demographic in Nation Building", organised by the students leadership of the Hall, held at the Cafeteria of the Hall.


Also honoured at the ceremony as great alumni of the Hall include Prof. J.O. Akintayo; Prof. S. Ademola Ajayi; Mr. Waidi Omotola Ifafore and Prof. Olukayode Olopade. 


The Administrator General of the Hall, Samuel Eniola Ogunremi, said though is not alumnus of the Hall or attended University of Ibadan, he was honoured because of his dedication to what concerns the youths and younger generation and what he has been able to achieve in his career as a civil engineer.

Ambassador Ajadi Commiserates With Ita-Osin Gas Explosion Victims













A Chieftain of the New Nigeria People's Party, (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has commiserated with victims of last Saturday gas explosion which occurred at Ita-Osin along the Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos Expressway.


In the gas explosion incident, one person was reported died, six others were injured, while six vehicles and several buildings were burnt.


In a statement on Thursday, Ambassador Ajadi said he commiserates with the victims of the incident especially those who lost their loved ones and those who are currently receiving treatments in the hospital.


He also pray that God in His infinite Mercy will provide for those who lost their buildings and business to the explosion.


Ambassador Ajadi who was the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party, (NNPP) in the last governorship election said in the statement, "I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of  those who lost their loved ones in the recent gas explosion which occurred at Ita -Osin area of the Abeokuta North local government area of Ogun- State.


"I equally commiserate with those who lost their properties and businesses to the incident. I pray that the Almighty God in His infinite Mercy will provide for them to rebuild their businesses.


"Let me also wish those recuperating in the hospital, a quick recovery. We pray that such sad incidents will not occurred again in our dear state".

Unicorn Respite and Rehabilitation Center Launches 'Liberating the Needy' Program to Immortalize Late Olubadan




In memory of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli-Okunmade II, who championed women's empowerment, the Unicorn Respite and Rehabilitation Center held its maiden edition of the 'Liberating the Needy' program on May 1, 2024. The event took place at the Community School adjacent to the late Oba's Palace and was attended by over 20 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from Oyo and Osun states.


The program aimed to provide support to vulnerable members of the community, including widows and small-scale traders. Items distributed included sewing machines, carpentry tools, cash gifts, and food packages. The immediate past President of the Association of Women Organizations in Nigeria (AWON) and other members were present to show their support.



In her keynote address, Olori Olayinka Balogun, Director of the Unicorn Respite and Rehabilitation Center, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the needs of the vulnerable. She called on NGOs to collaborate and network in their efforts to eradicate poverty and support those in need.


Dr. Kofo Soyinka and Dr. Olusade Taiwo of CEDAR NGO delivered inspiring speeches, while Olori Funmilayo Balogun was also present to support her colleague.


The 'Liberating the Needy' program marks a significant step towards empowering marginalized communities and promoting social welfare in the two states of Oyo and Osun.

MHR, ODiDIOMO calls for Technology Deployment to Combat Corruption


Member representing Ibadan North West/South West federal constituency, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, has called for the automation of processes, workflow, and revenue-generating agencies to enhance productivity and reduce the cost of governance.


Speaking during a 2-Day Retreat for members of the House of Representatives on economic transformation and development, Hon. Olajide emphasized the need for digital transformation, collaboration among security agencies, and the deployment of technology to combat corruption.


He highlighted the importance of defining security frameworks to protect investments and improve confidence, stating that "ICPC and EFCC should leverage technology to reduce corruption and improve their operations."



Hon. Olajide also stressed the need for automation of rules and business motion, duplication, and bills and workflow automation, saying "this will enhance efficiency and reduce unnecessary delays."


Furthermore, he declared a "state of emergency in digital literacy" and advocated for digital identity and data consolidation, emphasizing that "automation of all revenue-generating agencies is crucial for effective governance."

NUJ Congratulates Abib Olamitoye as Ibadan Central Hospital Celebrates 26years of medical excellence




The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council on Wednesday congratulated its benefactor, Dr. Abib Olamitoye, the founder of Ibadan Central Hospital, Ososami, Ibadan, the State capital as the ICH-Ososami branch of the hospital marked 26years of existence.


The NUJ in a statement issued by its State Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola and made available to reporters by the Union’s Secretary, Sola Oladapo applauded the medical excellence of the hospital in the past 26years of rendering affordable and accessible care to the haves and have-nots in the society.


Babalola also recalled Dr Abib Olamitoye many philanthropic gestures to the development of the State including the donation of a 150-seater capacity Hall to the journalists in the State at the Press Centre in Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.


According to the Chairman, “Today, we celebrate not only our benefactor but also the Ibadan Central Hospital. We celebrate a significant milestone in the history of Ibadan Central Hospital - 26 years of providing quality healthcare services to our community. “


As a journalist, “I am filled with immense pride and gratitude as I reflect on the hospital’s journey so far.


“From humble beginnings to the reputable institution it has built for itself over the years, we celebrate its founder’s commitment to excellence and compassion for the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general.


“That Dr Abib Olamitoye has remained unwavering in his pursuit of excellence is a great example of how a better society can evolve for the good of all.


“The founder has been privileged to touch countless lives, and I am grateful to his team of dedicated staff, loyal patients, and supportive partners who have made this landmark celebration in the last 26years possible.


“As you mark this anniversary, I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the hospital’s growth and success. 


“Your tireless efforts, trust, and encouragement have truly been the driving force behind the hospital’s many breakthroughs.


“May Ibadan Central Hospital continue to be a beacon of hope and healing for generations to come,” Babalola added.

Oyo NUJ Condemns Petrol Scarcity, Laments Economic Hardship on Citizens




The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned in strongest terms, the lingering petrol scarcity in Ibadan and other parts of the state, which has caused untold hardships for citizens.


In a statement signed by the NUJ State Secretary, Sola Oladapo, and made available to reporters in Ibadan on Monday, the Chairman, Ademola Babalola, lamented that the scarcity and price increase from N750 to N800 per liter have exacerbated the economic crisis and unfavorable inflation rates in the state.


Babalola expressed concern over the suffering of ordinary citizens, who are bearing the brunt of the scarcity, and called on the relevant authorities to take urgent action to address the situation.


The NUJ chairman also urged the government to find a lasting solution to the recurring petrol scarcity and price hike, which he described as a major setback to the economic development of the state and the country at large.


The union's condemnation comes as many residents of Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State continue to struggle to access petrol, with many filling stations either closed or selling the product at exorbitant prices."
