Why I Renovated Efunsetan Mediation Centre-Mogaji Saheed Lawal

The newly renovated mediation centre of the Efunsetan Dynasty will motivate others to be closer to their subjects owing to the giant stride of Mogaji Saheed Lawal of Efunsetan Family.

This was made known by the Maye Olubadan, Oloye Lekan Alabi during the commissioning of the renovated mediation centre of Efunsetan Dynasty at their Oja'ba Family House recently.

Oloye Alabi, while speaking at the occasion, hinted that Ibadan has over 6,000 Mogajis, (Family Heads), adding that only the chosen ones will clinch the ladder to be elevated to high chiefs and later become the Olubadan.

He however, urged them not to be in a hurry, but wait and allow their destiny to prevail, "Do not be desperate to be elevated but allow your destiny to prevail."

While welcoming guests to the occasion, Mogaji Saheed Lawal said that he was motivated to renovate the mediation centre because of the state of disrepair he met his family house when he became the Mogaji.

Saheed, who was highly elated for bringing the sons and daughters of the dynasty together through the commissioning of the mediation centre, also pledged to bring more dividends to the family.

Speaking at the event, Olori Ebi, Alhaji Yusuf Salami eulogized the efforts of Mogaji Saheed and stated that the family was lucky to have him apart from the previous five the family had produced.

He however, urged the entire family to support their Mogajis for them to move to the next level.

Also present at the occasion were Bada Olubadan, Wasiu  Aderoju Aladorin,  Taofeek Bantefa, and Mogaji Mayeloye.

May Day: Oyo NUJ okays 50% pay rise for its workers

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, on Monday announced 50 per cent salary increase for workers under its employment.

The union"s chairman in the state, Ademola Babalola, who approved the pay rise in the early hours of Monday May 1, 2023,  said the increment takes immediate effect.

This was contained in a statement issued by the union's secretary,  Sola Oladapo, which coincided with the May Day celebration in the state.

Babalola, who emphasised the need to mark this year's May Day with spectacular salary increment for all categories of its workforce, added: "It is my considered opinion that living wage of our workers should be increased by at least 50 per cent because of the current economic reality.

"This increment was the second of such improvement in the welfare of our workers since I took over the leadership of our great union in December 2019. But this latest pay rise cuts across all cadres of NUJ staff in the state."'

Babalola has therefore directed that the latest development reflects in the May salary of all workers.

The chairman also charged them to be alive to their responsibilities and justify the increment through renewed commitment and revitalised vigour.
